Our Story — In Memory of Billy Brewer
Watchmaker, teacher, and the heart behind this calculator (1941–2025)
For 60 years, my grandfather practiced the art of watchmaking in Eastern NC. Despite polio and leaving school after 8th grade, he built Brewer's Jewelers and became the most capable, determined, and generous man I've ever known.
He opened Brewer's Jewelers, keeping it alive for six decades. I grew up learning about wax casting jewelry, changing watch batteries, and seeing how something so small could hold so much value.
In the shop, Pa kept a calendar and called New York daily for the gold and silver prices. By 2010, I became his source for pricing gold and silver — he'd call almost every day asking, "What's gold today? What's silver?"
"He'll always be here if we keep his legacy alive."
Pa passed in April 2025. This calculator is my tribute — a way to honor him and keep our tradition alive for anyone who values precious metals.
